Public service announcements - if you have Conserv-Energy brand bulbs (they are compact fluorescents that are sold cheaply by Costco and IKEA, for example) you might want to get rid of them. I smelled this horrible burning wire smell the other day, and after running around the house found that there was smoke pouring from the base of the light bulb. A minute more, and I think our house would have been on fire. Looking on the internet, there are many reports of these bulbs catching on fire!
