I am fighting fruitcake prejudice. I made copious amounts of fruitcake (note to self: next year, half a recipe will do.)
Now this is really yummy fruitcake - dried fruit (raisins, apricots, cherries, cranberries, figs, dates, nuts) surrounded by spiced, brandy-soaked batter. None of that yucky candied orange peel and stuff. Yet everyone I offer my fruitcake to gets this funny look on his face.
Note to all potential fruitcake eaters: NOT ALL FRUITCAKE IS CREATED EQUAL!
