Thanksgiving was quiet this year - just us, the first time in as long as I can remember we haven't had people over. Kinda sad. But we had a good day - I made my famous "down parka turkey" again, and it was great. The kids really look forward to thanksgiving dinner. We played a half game of "Rail Baron" (it takes at least 4 hours or so) that we will probably finish today. Joshua has set up a monopoly in the North East, and things are getting tense ;-)
We got the gutters cleaned out and the lights up yesterday, and pulled out the Christmas decorations. There is just something about standing outside in the cold and dark looking at the house all lit up....I love Christmas! A house with Christmas lights just looks so homey, somehow.
Tomorrow is the first of Advent!

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -
and he will delight in the fear of the LORD .

He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
or decide by what he hears with his ears;
but with righteousness he will judge the needy,
with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth;
with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.
Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist.

Isa 11: 1-5
